Reporting to the Director of Development, the Assistant Director of Major Gifts is responsible for increasing the number of newly qualified donors who can support FARE at the five to seven-figure+ level. This person will be an integral member of the major gifts team and work closely with the Director of Development to strategically build and expand the major gift pipeline, deepen philanthropic relationships, and increase philanthropic support for FARE's mission. The Assistant Director of Major Gifts is a frontline fundraising role that will be responsible for building and managing a portfolio of current and prospective philanthropists and developing cultivation strategies. Through personal visits and meaningful interactions, the Assistant Director of Major Gifts will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and close gifts of $10,000+ and steward donors. This person will work collaboratively and strategically with and in support of lead volunteers, senior staff, and Board members to successfully cultivate and steward major donors. Details

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Build and manage an estimated portfolio of 100-125 prospect households, comprised of a mixture of unqualified, new, and long-term donors, with the goal of securing major gifts ($10,000+).
Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals by identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects to advance the mission of the organization.
Personally solicit and close philanthropic gifts ($10,000+) and multi-year commitments to support both unrestricted and restricted organizational priorities. Raise donor sights to maximize philanthropic support for FARE programs and initiatives.
Utilize prospect research tools to identify major gift prospects and conduct wealth screenings.
In partnership with the events team, plan and execute donor cultivation and recognition events.
Work closely and collaboratively with senior leadership, Board members, and volunteers as needed.
Collaborate with marketing and communications staff to develop proposals, stewardship reports, and other collateral that aid in donor cultivation and stewardship, as needed.
Consistently and accurately use CRM (Salesforce) to record activity and communication with donors for reporting of metrics and to maintain an databases institutional history of donor engagement.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Highly energetic and entrepreneurial professional with a track record of building meaningful relationships with donors/prospects.
Proven track record of direct solicitations and success closing 5- and 6-figure+ philanthropic gifts.
Passion for advancing FARE’s mission. Proven ability to effectively articulate and convey an organization’s mission, programs and initiatives, and case for support, verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of fundraising principles, techniques, ethics, and understanding of nonprofit environments.
Proven skills as a collaborative team member. Commitment to FARE’s core values to be empathetic and resilient, caring and relentless, and an ally and champion for our community.
Demonstrated productivity, ability to multi-task, and creativity with an aptitude for problem solving.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to interact in a positive manner with diverse and demanding constituents using a high degree of tact, diplomacy, and discretion, with emphasis on flexibility and professionalism. Strong organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective organizational skills, strong attention to details, and ability to work independently and strategically.
Ability to travel domestically and work some nights and weekends.
