"A feeling of worry or unease about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome . . . an abnormal and overwhelming sense of apprehension and fear often marked by physiological signs, by doubt concerning the reality and nature of the threat, and by self-doubt and one's capacity to cope with it." Sound familiar? A little bit of anxiety keeps us on our toes; too much knocks us down. This webinar will help you understand the emotional impact of living with a food allergy. Then, it will teach you how to develop an Emotional Safety Plan to help you prepare for and reduce that impact.
About the Presenter
Jeanne Herzog, PhD is a lifespan psychologist in private practice in Wisconsin. She holds a master’s degree indevelopmental psychology from Columbia University in New York, and a doctoral degree in counseling psychology from Marquette University in Milwaukee. One of her specialties is the field of health psychology, helping people with the psychological adjustment to health and medical conditions, including having a severe food allergy. She has worked with children and families for 36 years in the public school system as a teacher, in medical hospitals as a child life specialist and as a psychologist in private practice. Dr. Herzog focuses on the emotional stress of living with a food allergy and helps children, teens and adults with allergies, and the families that support them, create safety plans to deal with that stress. A regular presenter for the Southeast Chapter of the Food Allergy Association of Wisconsin, Dr. Herzog has presented at Wisconsin's 2014 Regional Food Allergy Conference (sponsored by FARE's Community Outreach Program) and the 2015 FARE National Food Allergy Conference in Long Beach, CA.
