College Chats with College Counselors with Food Allergy Experience and Expertise
May 30, 2024, 7:30 p.m. ET
Attending college represents a special challenge for young people living with food allergies; and navigating an entirely new living, eating and social environment safely can complicate the college experience. Colleges and universities have various approaches to supporting this growing population of students, but learning how to compare college choices through the food allergy lens is essential to making the best choice possible for you.
During this one-hour event, Christina Keller and Dana Kanfer, two college counselors with expertise in food allergy will answer all of your college questions. Submit any questions ahead of the event to education@foodallergy.org.
This event is supported by Genentech.
Christina Keller
As a food allergy mom, former lawyer, and higher education professional (including in Admissions), Christina Keller counsels families during this period of transition from home to college by evaluating food allergy and special diet accommodations at the student’s list of possible colleges, aiding in the college visit process, and providing support to admitted students. The goal is to find safe and inclusive dining, which is foundational to fostering safety, community, and the best possible college experience!
Dana Kanfer
Dana Kanfer is a food allergy mom and Independent Educational Consultant who works with high schoolers and their families during the college admissions process. She enjoys getting to know each high schooler she works with and supporting families in making important decisions. While students with food allergies may not need classroom accommodations, planning is needed to ensure students with food allergies can safely eat, live, and socialize at college. Dana can help students identify colleges that are “good fits” academically, socially, food allergy-wise, and financially. While Dana enjoys helping with every facet of the college application process, the best part of her job is ensuring that each student presents their best self in their own unique voice and has fun doing it.
