Securing Safe Food
Securing Safe Food Corp. (SSF)
Founded in March 2020 by members of the FARE Teen Advisory Group, Securing Safe Food (SSF) was born out of the pandemic as a grassroots effort to address the urgent need for safe, allergen-friendly food options. Today, SSF is a separate entity, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, partnering with food pantries across the U.S. to ensure that individuals with food allergies, particularly those in under-resourced communities, have access to nutritious, culturally relevant food.
Our Mission
At SSF, we are dedicated to fighting food insecurity among individuals with food allergies. We believe in providing more than just medically safe food—we recognize the importance of culturally relevant and sustainable allergen-friendly options. By collaborating with food pantries and manufacturers, we aim to revolutionize how communities access safe, healthy, and diverse food.
Program Details
SSF’s Food Pantry Program partners with a growing number of food pantries coast to coast to offer allergen-friendly essentials like sunflower seed butter, gluten-free noodles, and plant-based milk, as well as culturally significant foods such as masa flour and teff. Our work is sustained through partnerships with 18+ food manufacturers committed to clean-ingredient, environmentally conscious food production.
As an intermediary, SSF facilitates the logistics of distributing these critical foods to pantries, allowing them to focus on serving their communities. We also work closely with pantries to implement food allergy awareness protocols, ensuring that clients with allergies can access the food they need with minimal risk of cross-contact.
Through our mission and partnerships, we are reshaping the landscape of food accessibility for individuals with dietary restrictions, securing safe food for all.
