Joint Statement on Impact of Shutdown on Therapy Review

The following statement is posted in response to published reports concerning the impact of the government shutdown on review by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of therapies for food allergy:

We are hopeful that the government shutdown will end as soon as possible so that the FDA can get back to work reviewing potential food allergy treatments. It is imperative that any potential treatments are processed through the system quickly, as patients' lives are at stake.

Delays of any kind prolong the long wait for a potentially life-saving therapy for peanut allergy. We hope that our leaders can find a way to reach an agreement and let the FDA continue their work.
