If you have been prescribed epinephrine, FARE recommends that you carry two epinephrine auto-injectors with you at all times to make sure you have quick access to this life-saving medication. There are now four epinephrine auto-injectors available, each with its own pricing structure and programs to make the medication more affordable. We know prescription costs can add up, so we encourage individuals and families who are managing food allergies to learn about opportunities for cost savings.
Be advised that the different auto-injectors on the market operate in different ways, so it is important to discuss your options with a healthcare professional and be properly trained to use the device prescribed to you or your family member. All of the epinephrine auto-injectors listed below have been approved by the FDA as safe and effective for the treatment of anaphylaxis. We’ve summarized the cost-savings programs offered by each manufacturer. For more information on any of these plans, please contact the company directly.

Manufacturer’s Cost-Savings Programs
With the AUVI-Q® AffordAbility plan, all commercially insured patients pay $0 out of pocket for AUVI-Q. Patients without insurance who have an annual income of less than $100,000 per year may also be eligible to pay $0 out of pocket for their auto-injector.

2. Mylan’s My EpiPen Savings Card®
With the My EpiPen Savings Card®, patients with commercial health insurance could be eligible to save up to $300 on each EpiPen 2-Pak® or EpiPen Jr 2-Pak® carton per prescription refill, now through December 31, 2018. My EpiPen Savings Card® is reusable for up to six EpiPen 2-Pak® cartons so patients can have EpiPen® Auto-Injectors available in different locations.

Mylan’s MyGenericEAI Savings Card may provide you up to $25 savings for each Mylan Epinephrine Injection, USP Auto-Injector two-pack. This epinephrine auto-injector is the authorized generic for EpiPen®. The savings card may help eligible patients with commercial health insurance save on out-of-pocket costs. The card is reusable for up to three Mylan Epinephrine Injection auto-injector two-packs.

4. Mylan EpiPen® (epinephrine injection, USP) Auto-Injector Patient Assistance Program
Requirements include legal residency status, income limits, and lack of insurance coverage for prescriptions or for brand-name prescriptions. Patients who apply and are found eligible may receive medication free of charge. Mylan doubled the eligibility for this program to reach those uninsured and earning up to 400% of the federal poverty level. This means an uninsured family of four making up to $100,400 would pay nothing out-of-pocket for their EpiPen Auto-Injector.

5. Impax Epinephrine Auto-Injector Savings Card (Authorized Generic of Adrenaclick®)
The Impax Epinephrine Auto-Injector offers a savings card that can be used by commercially insured and cash-paying customers. The maximum benefit is $50 per two-pack on up to three auto-injector two-packs. Commercially insured patients may receive their epinephrine auto-injector at no cost. Cash-paying patients may receive up to $50 off each auto-injector two-pack with the savings card. If your pharmacist is unable to accept the savings card, Impax offers a mail-in rebate.

As of May 2018, the authorized generic of Adrenaclick® is offered at a cash price of $109.99 for a two-pack at CVS Pharmacy locations. Combining the Impax savings card with the CVS Pharmacy cash price may reduce your out-of-pocket cost to about $60.
