Just because a product was safe the last time you purchased it doesn’t mean the ingredients have stayed the same! It is very important to read all labels all of the time. The following food manufacturers have recently worked with FAAN to provide you with information about changes in their product.

Kashi® would like you to know that starting in May 2009, Kashi® TLC® Chewy Granola Bars Cherry Dark Chocolate will contain almond and peanut ingredients. The ingredient statement will include this change and also will list almond and peanut ingredients in the allergen statement. Please continue to read all labels for current allergen information. Kraft Foods North America, Inc., would like to notify you that beginning in early March 2009, Planters Deluxe Mixed Nuts (in 21-oz., 11.25-oz., and 10-oz. packages) will be reformulated to include macadamia nuts. The new packages for these three products will continue to include the following allergen information statement: “Manufactured on equipment that processes peanut, other tree nuts.”

Kraft Foods would like to notify you that a new product – Crystal Light Hunger Satisfaction powdered beverage in Strawberry Banana flavor – will be distributed to supermarkets and other retail outlets beginning December 1, 2008. This item is unique among Crystal Light varieties in that it contains whey, a milk protein. It will be labeled as containing milk in two places on the package. MorningStar Farms would like you to know that the follow products will contain milk and egg ingredients starting in January 2009: MorningStar Farms Griller Recipe Crumbles, MorningStar Farms Sausage Style Crumbles, and Worthington Chickette Chub Rolls. A representative of Ian’s Natural Foods has notified FAAN that Ian’s Mini Cheeseburgers and Ian’s Mini Chicken Patty Sandwiches may contain undeclared sesame seeds due to cross-contact during production.
